Competitive Racing in Great Location
Situated at the Royal Harbour in Ramsgate at the extreme South East of England, the Royal Temple Yacht Club has been a base for the dedicated racer since 1896.
These days our competitive racing fleet enjoys a full programme of racing from March through to October with races held virtually every week-end, as well as a midweek evening series held through June, July and August. Added to this are a range of events held in conjunction with our sister clubs on the both side of the Channel.
Racing takes place in the sheltered waters of the Downs in the lee of the South Foreland, where the large number of navigational buoys provide an ideal basis for a wide variety of challenging and interesting courses. The annual racing programme uses the natural features of the local coastline to provide an excellent mixture of short course, offshore and coastal racing for several cruiser and racing classes.
The opportunity to compete for the Club's historical collection of silverware is open to both club members and visitors alike, please see our Racing Results and Information page for more details.
Regatta and Championship Venue
The Royal Temple Yacht Club is the organising club for the annual International Ramsgate Week Regatta each summer. The club also regularly acts as a superb venue for regional offshore races and has previously been the host of National, European and World Championships for a number of keelboat one design classes.
If you are looking for a venue for your class championships? Look no further, simply make contact with RTYC by email info@rtyc.com.
Navigation School
RTYC has a fully affiliated RYA training status and offers a complete range of courses through theory and practical for both new and old sailors, motor boaters and social members. Many of our members have learnt their skills from our in house Navigation school. See our navigation school pages for details on the many courses we operate throughout the year.
Excellent Road Links
The Royal Temple Yacht Club is now more accessible than ever, with recent motorway and high speed rail links connecting you in just over an hour to central London.

Yachts can go from berth to the start line in under 10 minutes where the large expanse of open water can provide unlimited options for Olympic & Windward Leeward courses.
